Burning Man Resources

So what is Burning Man anyway?  The short answer is that it’s something different for everybody. If you’re thinking about going, be sure to read the entire Burning Man website.  No, really, all of it!  Going is a big undertaking, and you need to know what you’re getting yourself into.  If it still sounds like a swell idea after you’ve read through it, then guess what?  YOU SHOULD GO!  If you’re still feeling iffy, don’t push it.  Keep talking to friends about it, keep researching it, and when you’re ready to go, you’ll go.

Here’s a Burning Man packing list I made for new burners.  I made nice n’ tidy in an excel spreadsheet.  Download and edit away!

A few other links I’ve found handy over the years:

Burning Beach, a collective of burners from Santa Cruz – good recipes, a whole bunch of packing lists

Desert Domes - Build a dome! Or just buy one!

And don’t forget tribe.net.  The Burning Man tribe itself is a little overwhelming, but take a peak at Burning Man Tips, Playa Cooking, Playalicious Playawear,, Burning Man Art, and for more ‘tree’ projects, check out The Forest Through the Trees. Just about a tribe for anything Burning Man related you can think of.

Knit and Crochet Resources

For a good list of knitting abbreviations, I go here. Knitty.com is such a great site! Lots of cute stuff.

Here are some nice animated illustrations, demonstrating a few basic knitting techniques.

Videos can be found here and here.

Some great crochet videos are here.
