Total number of leaves to date: Over 3000!! I've lost count. We've met our goal!!! Thank you everybody!!

The deadline for submitting leaves has passed. Thanks SOOOO much to all of you who sent in leaves! It was overwhelming and inspiring, and I'm truly grateful. The tree looks beautiful with such a variety of leaves. Take a look at the tree's photo album, here.

The intention of this piece is to challenge us to connect our acts of creativity with the inevitable forces of destruction. As this piece will show, creating a work to be destroyed is not necessarily negative. The destruction of this tree will, in turn, create something beautiful. Artist from all over the world have helped create this beautiful tree.

Although the deadline for submitting leaves has passed, it may be of interest to you to read the few important guidelines our artists abided by. Most leaves that were submitted were useable and moop-free. Only about 300 or so were unesable.
